This post has been newly created to support Welsh Government and NHS Wales achieve key objectives for managing medicines efficiently and resourcefully across Wales. These objectives include centralised management of seasonal vaccinations (Influenza and Covid-19 booster programmes) and the development of a medicine buffer stockpile. The activities within this role will be performed under the Wholesale Dealer Authorisation (H) Regulations.
The role will be based at NWSSP Medicine unit at Imperial Park 5 with a requirement to attend Picketston site (St Athan) weekly, to perform checking activities on assembled medicine orders which include Controlled Drugs (CD’s), vaccines, and other prescription-only medicines (POM).
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post: English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The Post holder will plan and organise the daily procurement, receipt, and distribution activities required to deliver an efficient, cost-effective pharmacy procurement service, under Wholesale Dealer authorisation (WDA) requirements, to meet the needs of the customer. Working within Good Distribution Practices (GDP) to ensure the distribution of medicines is made accurately and in a safe manner, whilst being maintained as per manufacturers' requirements.
The post holder will be supported by a team of pharmacy distribution support officers and will have supervisory and line management responsibilities for this team.
The role involves using IT systems such as Pharmacy and Oracle procurement as well as quality management systems (QMS) to demonstrate regulatory and financial compliance.
Accuracy checking of assembled orders and batch documentation is required within this role and maintaining accurate and detailed records of distributed medicines to provide a clear audit trail in the event of a customer query, complaint, or a product recall.
