As the Event Director is responsible for the strategic development and financial performance of the brand and event. He/she is responsible for identifying and evaluating growth opportunities, using customer insights to develop new service/product solutions or brand extensions based on customer needs. Successful performance is defined as the ability to deliver positive business outcomes to customers (exhibitors and visitors) and drive revenue and profit growth for RX. • Drive individual and team performance to create high performing show teams • Own and communicate the event vision and strategy, aligning and connecting the team (and wider matrix team) and their objectives to the event & the overall RX business vision & strategy • Effective leadership within a matrix structure. Ensuring sufficient and appropriate support and resource in place to deliver on brand strategic goals and onsite delivery • Maintains team focus by prioritising, sequencing and focusing energy; leads a holistic approach to planning to ensure commitments are delivered on time and to a high quality. • Create a team culture of feedback, empowerment and decision making to encourage self and business development • Identify development needs - targeting and supporting appropriate training & development where relevant • Recruit effectively as required against identified needs - understanding and applying the appropriate recruitment tools to recruit the right people for the roles • Delegate effectively and hold people accountable within the matrix team structure • Ensure consistency in performance management across your teams – challenging and stopping behaviour and practices which do not encourage high performance • Remain self-aware and adapt your style and behaviours to get the best outcome in every situation and with every individual • Foster a collaborative team environment Commercial Skills • Own the vision, strategy, goals, decisions and policies of RXUK • Drive the brand and event revenue, strategic development and high quality delivery • Be accountable for all activities related to your brand • Full responsibility for the shows P & L • Setting appropriate pricing structures with the RX Revenue team • Setting the shows budget and undertaking timely and accurate re-forecasts • Accurate and timely reporting and pro-active interpretation and management of information • Identifying and driving new revenue streams • Build communities and networks to open up new opportunities and innovation by forming relationships to enable their business area to develop. • Create a show strategy which optimises all the levers of growth, includes robust sales and marketing plans and uses customer data • Consistently communicating this strategy to the team and wider community to create appropriate buy-in and engagement • Directs sales and marketing strategies and execution to properly define and deliver the customer value proposition and deliver a combination of higher revenue and profits • Improving customer satisfaction and net promoter scores year on year • Understanding other show models (both internally and externally) and applying appropriate innovation • Owning the appropriate industry relationships and being the ‘face’ of the shows and RXUK to the industry • Takes responsibility for implementation of product development initiatives • Actively seeks to match customer needs with product development initiatives • Encourages continuous product improvement by developing new concepts and reviewing their impact • Utilises matrix structure and lateral thinking for creative problem solving and product development • Examines other sectors to find new business ideas & methods • Monitors competitor activity to identify new strategies for acquisition & retention Use of Data & Customer insights • Creates superior customer solutions by identifying customer needs and problems that need to be solved and leveraging solutions to transform business needs. • Collaborates successfully with others internally to share customer insights and know-how. • Acts as a collaborative entrepreneur to see new possibilities, take in information and create insights to develop and maintain an understanding of customers’ needs and objectives through strong business relationships and industry knowledge;
