An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy yet friendly Women's & Children's Division as a Directorate Support Officer. This post is a supportive role to the wider Operational Team focusing on all areas of directorate performance and patient waiting list management. You will also be responsible for managing a team of admin and secretarial staff across the directorate. This is a full-time position worked over 5 days Monday to Friday and you will be primarily based at Worcester Royal Hospital, although some cross-site travel will be required.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Monitor key performance against all national KPI targets.
2. Manage both outpatient & inpatient waiting lists by validating patient pathways following and applying the Trust Access Policy.
3. Monitor theatre and outpatient clinic utilisation, escalating gaps where necessary and creating extra capacity to cope with changing demand.
4. Work closely with medical secretaries in prioritising patients.
5. Support the directorate and divisional teams as directed.

Key Working Relationships:
* Internal: Divisional Management Team, Consultant Medical Staff, Waiting list validation team, Pre-op clinic staff, Matrons, Medical Secretaries, Appointments Clerks, Receptionists, Ward Clerks, Information Department, Patient Services Department.
* External: GP Surgeries, Community Trusts, Provider Trusts.
Job Purpose:
To support the Women's and Children's Division in managing waiting lists and monitoring against National targets. Review and interpret data to support the development and improvement of service areas. Monitor Clinic Utilisation to ensure vacant capacity is utilised.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level III or equivalent experience.
* Good standard of education.
* Excellent keyboard and computer skills.
* Microsoft Office Suite.
* First Stage Management / Supervisory Course.
* Evidence of further studies/continued development.

* Ability to work to deadlines and manage conflicting priorities under pressure.
* Excellent telephone manner.
* Able to deal with patients sensitively.
* Flexible and adaptable.
* Ability to work as part of a team.

Experience
* Previous experience of working within a clinical setting.
* Senior secretarial/admin experience preferably in the NHS.
