Our London law firm client is seeking an outstanding commercial lawyer to work across the Film, Television and Theatre Group, primarily working in film and television. The suitable candidate will have the chance to work alongside partners who are ranked as experts by the independent legal directories on a wide range of rights, production, finance and other matters for leading names in these sectors, including streamers and major film studios.
The successful candidate will be 2-4 PQE and will be confident, technically strong and ambitious. Candidates must have an enthusiasm for working in the creative industries. The firm is looking for the right person to provide legal advice in a pragmatic and commercial manner and to foster and maintain good client relations, as well as nurture new clients in a number of rapidly changing industry sectors.
Work across the Group is varied, but could include the following:
* The drafting and negotiation of rights and development agreements across film, television and theatre.
* Advising producers, writers and other rights holders on development and chain of title issues.
* Financing and other structuring work for both financiers and producers.
* Assisting clients in the day to day running of their productions - dealing with a broad range of potential legal issues as well as handling production contracts.
* Advising on distribution arrangements, further licensing and other forms of ongoing exploitation across stage, live events, film and television.
* Acting for writers, directors, composers and actors as well as producers.
* Handling general commercial agreements.
