Our UKAS-accredited Microbiology Department processes over half a million samples annually, covering Bacteriology, Parasitology, Mycology, Serology, and a specialist Diagnostic Molecular Testing Suite.
This position requires participation in a 24/7 shift system, including night shifts, to ensure continuous service delivery.
To be eligible, you must be HCPC registered (or in the process of registration) as a Biomedical Scientist, with experience in a routine Microbiology Laboratory. Proficiency in UKAS standards, excellent computer literacy, and a keen attention to detail are essential. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, highly motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality service.

As a Biomedical Scientist In Our Team, You Will
* Contribute to the efficient operation of a busy routine Microbiology Laboratory, including Bacteriology, Parasitology, Mycology, Serology, and Molecular Diagnostics.
* Ensure all laboratory work is carried out to the highest standards, in compliance with UKAS accreditation.
* Participate in regular appraisals, setting personal objectives aligned with the Department’s business plan.
* Provide support and training to Band 5 BMS, Associate Practitioners (AP), Assistant Technical Officers (ATO), and Trainee BMS staff as required.
* Liaise with maintenance engineers regarding on-site work to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
