About Baldock Manor
Baldock Manor is a specialist psychiatric hospital in north Hertfordshire, providing care for adults with severe mental disorders. Our hospital has two female PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care) wards and two acute wards. The PICU services offer a unique approach to crisis intervention, focusing on rapid assessment and stabilization for women with severe mental health needs. Our acute wards cater to older adults, typically aged 55 or above, who require short-term hospitalization to manage their mental health.
Job Summary
We seek an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team, leading our clinical services and ensuring high-quality care for patients. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for developing a comprehensive treatment plan, working closely with the multidisciplinary team, and overseeing the performance of other Consultants. Your role will involve representing the hospital externally, participating in quality improvement projects, and fostering a culture of learning among staff.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Develop and implement treatment plans based on evidence-based practice
Provide psychiatric care advice and support to clients
Lead the multidisciplinary team and establish relationships with key stakeholders
Oversee the performance of other Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring appraisal and revalidation processes
Identify and address any concerns regarding psychiatrists' conduct or performance
Provide clinical guidance and supervision to colleagues
Represent the hospital externally, promoting the organization's reputation and building partnerships
Participate in quality improvement projects and contribute to service evaluation
Lead educational and health promotion activities within the Mental Health Service
Foster a culture of continuous learning through the CPD program
Contribute to initiatives requiring a medical perspective
Your Profile
Ambitious and motivated Consultant Psychiatrist with a proven track record in delivering high-quality care and services. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role. Prior experience in managing complex cases and guiding junior staff is desirable. A commitment to continuing professional development and staying current with best practices in in-patient Psychiatry is necessary.
