Head of Track Infrastructure
Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd is looking for a Head of Track Infrastructure to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for our track maintenance teams and our on-call incident recovery services. They will also be responsible for our portfolio of track maintenance customers and looking into ways of growing this side of the business.
The Head of Track Infrastructure will be responsible for circa 120 miles of siding track, inclusive of 400 sets of S&C spread over 30 facilities, and for a number of customer yards and sidings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Be a Safety leader - ensure you, your team, contractors, and others work safely at all times. Ensure your team conducts their engineering duties to our high standards safely and with integrity.
* Support the track maintenance manager in their duties of ensuring inspections are carried out in accordance with the designated track maintenance schedule and engineering standards.
* Support our internal stakeholders to ensure that their track maintenance is completed in accordance with the designated track maintenance schedule and maintenance standards. Provide reports for the sites highlighting what repairs need to be made, timescales, and investment required.
* Engage with external customers and manage the relationship for their track maintenance requirements and repairs.
* Own the track maintenance budget and report on the P&L on a monthly basis.
* Seek out new opportunities to grow our portfolio and offering.
* Manage our on-call engineering support, including recovery activities, to ensure that incidents can be attended 24/7, 365 days a year.
* On-call responsibility for technical advice and protection of Freightliner’s interests at main-line incidents, including taking the role of silver command for T&RS if required.
Requirements:
* A proven track record of success in management of a team.
* Experience in track and infrastructure is desirable.
* Proactive, innovative, and creative approach to problem-solving.
* Excellent oral communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to take a confident and diplomatic approach with staff, colleagues, and customers.
* Written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise reports and letters.
* Prioritize and work well under pressure, whilst making key decisions.
* Numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data/information and produce it in a clear and logical format.
* A working knowledge of PC applications; Microsoft Office and Outlook.
* On-call safety of the line responsibilities.

They need to be committed to providing a high standard of service to the business and tackle goals and objectives with drive, energy, and enthusiasm. A flexible approach to working hours is required as there is an on-call responsibility for technical advice and protection of Freightliner’s interests at main-line incidents.
