Fixed Term Contract until 31 st October 2027 Bath and North-East Somerset (B&NES) Council has an exciting fixed-term employment opportunity, working within the Public Health Team, contributing to improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of those living and working in B&NES. We are seeking to recruit a dynamic Public Health Officer to co-ordinate and drive forward our response to food insecurity locally working in partnership with the B&NES Fair Food Alliance. You will work with the Fair Food Alliance to develop the B&NES Food Equity vision and action plan for 2025 onwards, including access to affordable healthy food provision, income maximisation and financial wellbeing and ensuring the voice of those with living experience of food insecurity are heard. You will champion household food security and financial wellbeing across the Council and through local, regional and national networks. Working collaboratively with colleagues and other local stakeholders to identify preventative, sustainable solutions to addressing household food insecurity, including sharing good practice from other areas. You will be a skilled communicator and facilitator who can work effectively alongside and in partnership with local community representatives, councillors and a range of Council and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks from facilitating partnership work, coordinating engagement events with communities, informing wider policy and strategy, writing reports, analysing data, sharing good practice, and delivering training. You will facilitate the Affordable Food Network, support development of a wider Food Strategy, and support delivery of our Affordable Schools Programme.
