Job Purpose / Overview: We are seeking a Technical Clerk to support the pre-construction phase of the Sizewell C (SZC) project. This role is integral to developing engineering solutions, methods, and the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) during the early stages of the project. The Technical Clerk will primarily focus on creating compelling technical proposals, ensuring they meet the TOC submission requirements and contribute to the success of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA). Contextual Information: The SZC project is part of the UK's plan to develop a new nuclear power plant at Sizewell in Suffolk. The project is being funded by two primary shareholders: EDF and HMG, and aims to deliver low-carbon, sustainable energy. This large-scale nuclear power project involves various technical, environmental, and regulatory considerations, with a commitment to high safety standards and engineering excellence. The SZC project will follow a technical and commercial approach based on the replication of Hinkley Point C, leveraging EDF's established nuclear business footprint. Key stakeholders in this project include the UK Government, EDF, financial investors, regulators, and local communities. Principal Accountabilities, Activities, and Decisions: Gather and compile information for technical proposals and materials that meet the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) submission requirements. Support the development of technical content through meetings, reviews, and discussions. Draft responses to queries raised during the TOC process. Research and write supporting information, including case studies, CVs, innovations, and best practices for project submissions. Engage with information management systems, submitting key content and technical submissions. Liaise with preconstruction, engineering, HSES, and other teams to ensure a unified approach to the TOC submissions. Address matters related to safety, environmental, sustainability, assurance, and economic requirements in the development of technical solutions. Work within the constraints of the project site and legal requirements outlined in the DCO. Collaborate with other parts of the program, client team, designers, and stakeholders. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience: Essential: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good understanding of civil engineering principles. Strong teamwork abilities and problem-solving skills. Good self-discipline, time management, and organizational skills. Previous construction experience (preferred). Ability to think creatively and manage multiple tasks. Desirable: Experience in civil engineering or complex construction projects and programs.
