As aStreet Cleansing Operative, you will not only be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, but also for engaging with local businesses and the public to raise awareness about littering, fly-tipping, and general environmental impact. Your ability to communicate effectively and provide guidance will be vital in preventing future damage to the local environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Street Cleansing & Maintenance: Ensuring that streets, public spaces, and areas are cleaned regularly and thoroughly.
2. Fly-Tipping Reporting: Identifying and reporting instances of fly-tipping and waste dumping to relevant authorities.
3. Engagement with Local Businesses: Initiating conversations with local businesses to discuss best practices for waste disposal, litter prevention, and maintaining a cleaner environment.
4. Environmental Education: Providing clear, informative talks to businesses and the public on how to reduce littering, the importance of responsible waste disposal, and the environmental benefits of maintaining a clean area.
5. Customer Service: Acting as an approachable and friendly point of contact for the public and businesses with regards to environmental matters.
6. Team Collaboration: Working closely with other street cleaning team members to ensure that all areas are maintained to a high standard.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Confidence in Public Speaking: Ability to engage with local businesses and members of the public in a professional, clear, and friendly manner.
2. Approachable & Personable: Must be comfortable with speaking to people from all walks of life, building rapport and addressing concerns effectively.
3. Environmental Awareness: A good understanding of environmental issues, particularly related to waste management, littering, and fly-tipping.
4. Team Player: Willingness to work as part of a team to achieve cleanliness and environmental goals.
5. Attention to Detail: Ability to spot issues that need attention and report them promptly.
6. Physical Stamina: The role involves outdoor, manual work, so a good level of physical fitness is required.
7. Previous experience in a cleaning or environmental maintenance role.
8. Knowledge of local environmental regulations or waste management systems.
9. Full UK Driving Licence
10. A genuine interest in environmental sustainability.
