12 month fixed term/secondment
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, proactive, compassionate and enthusiastic band 6 midwife to join our Core team. We are looking for someone who is positive about change, with excellent communication skills.
You will be responsible for the general running of the ward, supporting the Midwives, MCA/MSW, Receptionists, and Modern Housekeepers.
Main duties of the job
* Based on the Maternity Ward as a Band 6 core team Midwife in charge of the 61 bedded ward which cares for antenatal women, postnatal women, and women having an induction of labour.
* Have an oversight of all the women and staff on the ward, and to work closely with other areas within the hospital in particular PAU and Labour Ward to maintain bed flow.
* Excellent communication skills to work alongside the MDT team, including the obstetricians, neonatologist, Anaesthetist, physiotherapist, and Audiology.
* Knowledge of the clinical guidelines and support the staff with any changes that affect current practice.
* Good knowledge of Safeguarding, and work closely with the safeguarding team to ensure safety of vulnerable women and babies.
* Maintain stock levels including medicines and have regular communication with Pharmacy.
* You will be expected to escalate any concerns when necessary to the appropriate manager/matron and/or Consultant.
