We have an exciting opportunity to lead our Radiology team at St Hugh's Hospital, Grimsby. You will have managerial responsibility for the day-to-day running of our Radiology Department.
Main duties of the job
You will use your experience to ensure a high standard of evidence-based care is consistently delivered to patients whilst managing a department that is safe, effective, caring, responsive, well-led and meets statutory and legislative requirements.
You will have the ability to manage, motivate, support and develop staff in addition to possessing commercial awareness. Management experience is required as there is a need to balance the provision of quality care while maintaining a business focus.

Job responsibilities
Clinical
1. Ensure the highest standard of evidence-based care is delivered to all patients and their families.
2. Act as patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met.
3. Ensure a high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare-associated infections.
4. Maintain an appropriate standard of confidentiality.
5. Undertake imaging tasks in compliance with HMT IR(ME)R procedures and Local Rules.
6. Advise as an expert in imaging technique, radiation safety and patient care.
7. Check patient identification and documentation, ensuring appropriate radiographic examinations are carried out.
8. Assess patients, plan and implement examination procedures within specialty.
9. Operate equipment, assess patients' needs and adapt radiographic techniques accordingly.
10. Evaluate resultant images for diagnostic quality and alert clinicians of any abnormality.
11. Organise facilities for routine and specialist investigations.
12. Oversee, plan and implement the departmental Quality Assurance programme.
13. Participate in the provision of an 'Out of Hours' on-call service.
14. Familiarise with and apply principles of Radiation Safety.
15. Undertake local reporting systems for patient and staff safety incidents.
16. Provide expert training in specialist equipment and supervision to less experienced staff.
Communication
1. Communicate with and provide support for patients, relatives, carers and visitors.
2. Liaise with other clinical areas for the coordination of patient care.
3. Ensure patient records are accurately maintained.
Managerial
1. Efficiently manage the Radiology department, ensuring effective use of resources.
2. Monitor and ensure patient satisfaction.
3. Ensure compliance with IR(ME)R and other statutory legislation.
4. Participate in setting standards and agreeing clinical audit topics.
5. Manage staff working within the clinical specialty.
Person Specification
Communication
* Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
* Ability to influence and motivate staff.
* Experience of use of a medical software package.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered.
* BSc Radiography or equivalent.
* Evidence of CPD.
Experience
* Post graduate experience in Radiography.
* 3 years post registration experience.
