Join our dynamic Public Health Team as we have a fantastic opportunity for a Public Health Practitioner. You will have the chance to explore a career in public health whilst playing a key role in improving health outcomes for Isle of Wight residents. We are a supportive and friendly team, with a passion for using evidence-based approaches to improve population health and wellbeing through positive behaviour change and a focus on tackling inequalities.
This post will partly focus on mental wellbeing and suicide prevention and partly on improving the health of children through work in educational settings.
Applicants for this role will have an interest in health and wellbeing and an enthusiasm to support work that improves population level health and wellbeing. You will have a good pass in GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English as a minimum and may have a degree or work experience in a relevant subject. Public Health Practitioner registration is welcomed but not essential.
The successful applicant may have experience in a variety of skills such as partnership working, project management, commissioning, wellbeing services, health services and a keen interest in developing their skills and knowledge. Strong communication skills will be required and the ability to represent the public health team and the Isle of Wight Council confidently and professionally.
As a team, we support agile and hybrid working. We are a joint team across the Isle of Wight and Hampshire. There will be a need to work on the Island to build relationships with partners and to attend face-to-face meetings on the Isle of Wight and in Winchester. We also support flexible working where possible, but would anticipate a minimum of once per week working in the office. The Isle of Wight Council also offers fantastic benefits including 32 days annual leave per annum, plus public holidays.
