We are looking for a Data Custodian to join us as part of a collaborative team, using innovative methods to drive a data driven culture. As a Data Custodian you will be the person who ensures that the data we use within Economic Crime remains secure, is thoroughly understood and maintained via trusted data governance principles and best practices, which conform to the Society's data governance framework. You will support the Data Governance team for Economic Crime, whilst working alongside financial crime, fraud and analytical experts, collaborating to protect the Society and its members from the threat of economic crime and improving our understanding of the data that is key to both the Economic Crime area and throughout the wider society - ensuring this data is trustworthy and reliable through regular audits and validation processes. What you'll be doing You will use your experience with data controls, such as data lineage mapping and data quality outputs (dashboards and scorecards), to ensure the data we use in our financial crime systems and reports is well understood, governed, and optimised for purpose. Working alongside subject matter experts in financial data and systems (and Data Custodians throughout the society) to ensure that the following controls are met: Critical Data Management: Ensure Critical Data and associated lineage is thoroughly understood and maintained within our metadata tool. Collaborate with business teams to identify and classify critical data elements. Data Quality: Define, document, report, and monitor Data Quality rules. Oversee the technical implementation of these controls. Monitor and maintain the integrity of data as it transitions between platforms. Provide assurance that data is trustworthy and dependable through regular audits and validation processes. Ensure timely deletion of records in accordance with relevant data retention policies. Develop and implement data quality metrics and dashboards to track performance. Engage with data custodians across Nationwide to remediate data quality issues. Change Management: Understand the impacts of changes on data and ensure the necessary controls are in place and operational. Work with project teams to assess data-related risks and implement mitigation strategies. Document within our metadata tools and communicate changes to data management processes and policies. Third-Party Data Integrity: Monitor and maintain the integrity of data received from third parties. Apply and enforce data quality standards for third-party data providers. About you As a minimum you will need to have: Proven first hand experience designing and implementing data controls in a large organisation - e.g. development and rollout of data dictionaries, lineage documentation, data quality scorecards, including reporting and resolving data quality issues. Experience with SAS and/or SQL. Experience with Collibra or similar metadata management tools. Experience of working in a team of data professionals. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, ensuring a positive data culture is promoted and controls become a business-as-usual activity - you will be able to inspire others with your enthusiasm for all things data.
