Student Participation Events Assistant
Reporting to: Democracy and Campaigns Manager
Place of Work: SUBU, Student Centre, Talbot Campus, Bournemouth University
Hours of Work: Part Time, Term Time, 0-8 hours per week
Purpose of Role
The Student Participation department is responsible for offering extra-curricular activities to Bournemouth University Students to maximise their time at uni. There are 2 departments within this; Student Opportunities who offer activities through clubs and societies, community projects and volunteering opportunities and Democracy and Campaigns who are here to make sure that students are represented at BU through Student Officers, Liberation Networks and Student Communities ensuring that every student at BU has a space to belong to.
The Student Participation Events Assistant will be responsible for assisting both the Student Opportunities and Democracy and Campaigns teams with promoting their work to the wider student body. This will particularly include support in event preparation, set up and pack down as and when the service requires. It will also include capturing photo and video content as well as some promotion, copy writing and social media content scheduling and management.
Key Tasks
* Assisting with any necessary event administration
* Designing event promotion and social media assets using online software
* Adding events on the SUBU website for promotional purposes
* Assisting with event preparation, set up and pack down
* Creating high quality video and photography content for use in SUBU promotional activity
* Maintaining relevant pages for Student Participation on the SUBU website and social media pages
* As directed by the manager, copy writing for promotional material
* Liaising with stakeholders within SUBU and externally in Bournemouth University to actively promote events
* Using initiative to promote the work of the departments to students

* The principal roles and responsibilities will change from time to time and the post holder is required to undertake any additional duties as deemed appropriate.

Person Specification
* You must be a current student to apply for this role with the availability to work a max of 8 hours per week, which may be split over one or two shifts during the week.
* Flexible and responsive to changing demands.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
