Job summary The Specialist Community Perinatal Mental Health Team are seeking a part time Parent Infant Practitioner/Perinatal Community Nursery Nurse (22.5 hours per week) to cover the Cheshire East and Central Cheshire areas of the CWP patch. The post holder will be a qualified Nursery Nurse employed to work in a Parent Infant Practitioner role within the specialist perinatal multidisciplinary community team. The role will centre around supporting the mother and infant to develop physically and emotionally and nurture their developing relationship and attachment. All activities undertaken by the Parent Infant Practitioner (Nursey Nurse) will be at the discretion/delegation of the team's Perinatal Health Visitor and the Parent-Infant Lead Clinical Psychologist, after appropriate in-service training has been given and level of competency demonstrated. Main duties of the job The postholder will be responsible and accountable to the Perinatal Team Manager and Perinatal Health Visitor, working as a qualified Nursery Nurse Practitioner. The postholder will receive highly specialist clinical supervision from the Parent-Infant Lead Clinical Psychologist. You will provide help and support to parents to enable them to make informed choices in relation to parenting giving evidence-based advice and information in respect to baby care, development, infant feeding, breastfeeding, weaning, behaviour management, play, hygiene, dental care, accident prevention, crying and soothing, attachment, parenting skills and local community facilities. You will provide intensive support to new parents in a variety of settings including clients' homes, Children's Centres, G.P Surgeries, health centre or other local community centre under the direction of the perinatal mental health clinicians, taking into account the diverse needs of the community. The postholder will assist in assessing baby's health, well-being and related needs and contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of care. To support mothers in general management of baby care, demonstrating an understanding of how this may be hindered by the presence of mental illness and provide practical and emotional support to help women prepare for the transition into parenthood.
