Person Specification:
Essential Criteria:
1. Full car driving licence
2. Apprenticeship in relevant core trade with a Minimum of a City and Guilds with advanced craft certificate or BTEC, ONC in relevant building Maintenance Trade.
3. Minimum 3 years experience in General building maintenance, outside core trade of Painting/Decorating, carpentry, Joinery.
4. Good understanding of the relationship of other craftsmen’s work to their own.
5. Experience of maintenance carpentry and building in a range of settings.
6. Ability to interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to original trade, without supervision.
7. Ability to set out new work or set up new production appropriate to original trade using relevant instruments and machinery, without supervision.
8. Familiar with hand and power tools.
9. Health & Safety training.
10. Good knowledge of carpentry and joinery techniques.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Certificate in Wood Working Machinery.
2. Minimum 5 years experience working in a complex Building Maintenance environment.
3. Basic electrical safety training to fulfill duties without support of other trades.
4. Understanding of the working of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and gas systems in NHS buildings.
5. Experience working in a Healthcare Environment.
6. Joinery ability.
7. Ability to diagnose and repair faults in basic electrical systems (e.g., fire doors, lighting circuits, power circuits).
8. Ability to support and assist with Engineering emergencies using own initiative.
9. Ability to glaze windows, fit and maintain locks.
10. Electrical training.
11. Water supply training.
12. Environmental health & Safety training.
