Job Description
Job Title: Solutions Architect
Location: Hybrid (1 day/week in Basingstoke office) with international travel (EU, Japan, US) once per quarter
Salary: £70,000-£95,000 + Bonus
About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect professional to play a pivotal role in establishing and driving an architecture practice within a global organisation. This is not a software development role or enterprise architecture position. Instead, it focuses on shaping and modernising corporate IT infrastructure across a dynamic, multi-national landscape.
Your role will involve revitalising dated IT infrastructure, integrating recent acquisitions, and exploring the future direction of connectivity, such as leveraging SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) solutions.
If you are a self-starter with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and experience working autonomously in diverse environments (particularly those influenced by Japanese work culture), this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
* Play a hands-on role in helping set up and guide the new architecture practice.
* Assess, design, and implement improvements to corporate IT infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Support the integration of newly acquired companies, evaluating and evolving the connectivity approach (including potential SASE adoption).
* Collaborate with the IT Operations team to address on-premises server deployments, network infrastructure, and cloud migration.
* Provide technical insights on cloud-based solutions, including Microsoft Office 365, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Azure.
* Contribute to the newly established Design Authority Group, shaping IT decisions and direction.
* Engage in global travel (EU, Japan, US) to align teams and initiatives across regions.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Solid technical background in enterprise IT infrastructure, including:
* On-premise server deployment
* Network infrastructure design and management
* Cloud technologies: Microsoft Office 365, Azure, and Oracle Cloud (OCI, SaaS offerings)
* Understanding the benefits and rationale behind cloud and SASE connectivity.
* Experience working in a global organisation; prior exposure to Japanese business culture is highly desirable.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to simplify complex technical concepts for stakeholders.
* A self-starter who can work autonomously with minimal supervision.
* Proven ability to work effectively with IT operations and service desk teams.
* Technical degree or equivalent professional experience (formal qualifications not strictly required).
What We’re Looking For:
* Someone who understands IT infrastructure gaps and can drive solutions.
* A proactive professional with both strong technical expertise and softer skills.
* Global mindset with the ability to adapt to cultural and language differences.
