Job Description
Overall Purpose of the Job:
Undertaking food preparation and production within a designated Rochester independent college outlet, working to the agreed, highest attainable standards for the quality and variety of food and menus on offer are consistently delivered.
Strategic
5. Contribute to the attainment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the Rochester operation
Operational
6. Assist Head Chef & Chefs with food preparation and production throughout the outlet, variably for breakfast, lunch, dinner and buffet services, ensuring that the agreed operating standards are consistently achieved, as agreed with the senior chef on duty
7. Ensure that the production and service of food/meals is delivered to the specified requirements and agreed standards, as agreed with the senior chef on duty
8. Assist with the receipt and storage of goods deliveries for the service outlet as required, ensuring that that control systems and standards are adhered to at all times
9. Undertake personal responsibility for Food Hygiene, Health and Safety relating to food production and services whilst performing duties, consistently following required legal compliance and best practice in line with policy and procedure and embracing the Zero Harm culture.
10. Assist with the safe keeping and maintenance of the equipment and machinery to the required standards of hygiene and safety
11. Undertake professional communication with colleagues within the workplace
12. Participate with colleagues in a regularly convened catering staff forums
13. Work & liaise effectively & supportively with all other Somerset Larder colleagues & departments in the interests of contributing to a professional work environment
14. Assist and support across the operational boundaries within Rochester as and when agreed and the business dictates, in-keeping with the role and/or working development opportunities

15. Observe policies and procedures which are introduced for continually improved food production and services, in liaison with other colleagues as appropriate
General
16. Ensure that all personal actions are in line with the overall environmental aims of Somerset Larder, undertaking all tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner - promoting environmental sustainability where opportunity presents.

Qualifications
17. Professional Cookery Qualifications to (minimum) City and Guilds 706/1 or equivalent NVQ
18. Level 2 Food Safety Qualification (Desirable)
19. Level 2 H & S Qualification (Desirable)
20. First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
Skills/Knowledge/Experience Required
21. Relevant technical culinary skills gained within a similar-sized and similarly-diverse environment and to the requirements of the post
22. Organisational skills
23. Gain insight in to the NNB particular way of working, with understanding for the need of enhanced security and vetting procedures.

Successful applicants will be required to provide a three-year employment history and five-year address history in order to work on Rochester Independent college. They must be able to provide in date photographic ID and their right to work in the UK so that security clearance can be obtained as these roles are based on a nuclear regulated site.
