Prospero Teaching are looking for a SEND Tutor in Oldham to deliver tuition on a 1:1 basis to a young person with complex special educational needs.
The tutor will provide 1:1 support to a pupil in the Oldham area who is currently seeking education other than at school. The tuition will involve the delivery of Maths and English, and the tutor will be expected to conduct a baseline assessment to evaluate the student's ability and then deliver a suitable curriculum.
The pupil has complex SEN and is working below age-related expectations. A Primary specialist with experience across Key Stages is essential to bridge the gaps in their learning and enhance their KS2 knowledge.
The support will take place at the young person's house or in a local library on a part-time basis (up to 25 hours per week).
As an SEN Tutor, you must be able to create, plan, and deliver tailored lessons to bridge gaps in pupils' education and boost attainment levels. You may be an experienced teacher or have significant experience working with children in a therapeutic way to support their needs through previous SEN specialist positions.
Hours: up to 25 hours per week
Start date: As soon as possible
Duration: ongoing until a school placement is found
Contract Type: Temporary/part-time
Pay rate: from GBP25 per hour
Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
1. QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications is preferred
2. Demonstrated experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
3. Possess UK classroom teaching experience and experience delivering tailored lesson plans
4. Be creative, patient, and willing to think outside of the box
5. Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
1. Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
2. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
3. Provide two professional child-related references.
