Join the friendly and dynamic Scholarships and Bursaries team, where you will play a key role in the organisation and delivery of the University’s undergraduate scholarship and bursary programmes, enhancing the University experience for a wide range of students.
About us
Our programmes provide financial support and an enriching programme of activities to University of Bath students from less advantaged backgrounds and to those with exceptional artistic talent.
The Gold Scholarship Programme and Claverton Scholarship Programme support students from under-represented backgrounds to maximise their Bath experience and to successfully transition to the next stage of their career/studies. Scholars attend key events during the year and complete employability experiences and personal development opportunities.
The Arts Scholarships provide financial support, mentorship and skills development to the Arts Scholars.
About the role
As one of the main points of contact for scholars, your role will include:
* Regular communication with scholars to ensure continued engagement with their scholarships and support them to fulfil their employability experiences and meet their personal development targets.
* Supporting the planning and coordination as well as the development and delivery of some of the key scholarship events during the year.
* Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including other teams in Student Services, Recruitment and Admissions, Widening Participation, Careers, Skills, Students’ Union staff and officers, and Gold Mentors.
* Coordinating the production of regular communications for scholars, University staff, and Gold Mentors.
You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and sympathetically. Our ideal applicant will:
* Be able to problem solve and be proactive, but also be aware of their remit, signpost to other services, and seek support when needed.
* Have experience in developing and delivering training workshops.
* Have excellent presentational skills and strong written communication skills.
* Prioritise their workload supported by excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
Our programmes make use of a variety of IT systems and tools, including Microsoft Sharepoint, Teams, Zoom, PowerApps, and more – and therefore experience in using relevant systems and in improving systems or business processes, or a keenness to learn, will be an advantage.
Further information
This is a permanent, part-time role working between 18.25 hours - 21.9 hours per week (0.5 fte/0.6 FTE).
Willingness to travel externally is required, and a moderate amount of evening and weekend work is necessary for which time in lieu is provided. In order to support key activities and events, you will also need to be available on a number of fixed dates through the year, which will be agreed annually for the September-September period.
