A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Match Day Safety team at Middlesbrough Football Club. We are currently seeking to recruit a Deputy Safety Officer at the Riverside Stadium who will assist in the development, organisation, planning and delivery of all aspects of match day safety, security and counter terror.
The Role
The main responsibilities of the role include:
* To assist the Safety Officer in planning, delivering and managing safety aspects of match days, concerts and other event days at the Riverside Stadium.
* Lead for recruitment and training of match day stewards.
* Liaise with relevant external organisations to ensure the smooth running of match days at the Riverside Stadium, including medical services and statutory authorities.
* Ensure match day stewards are correctly trained in order to carry out their roles effectively.
* Coordinate, plan and review match day contingency plans and emergency procedures.
* Collate and evaluate incident reports from match days.
* Undertake any post-match investigations, resulting from incident reports.
* Manage, control and co-ordinate match day safety, as an allocated Safety Officer.
* Assist and liaise with the Safety Officer on counter terror training and prevention.
About The Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have significant organisational experience in crowded environments, preferably sports related. You will also have:
* Outstanding organisational, leadership and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in leading multi-agency and inter-departmental meetings.
* Capability to plan and deliver detailed plans and policies, including emergency, contingency plans and risk assessments.
* Significant interview skills and ability to analyse challenging incidents.
* Ability to work in a multi-task, pressurised and dynamic environment.
* Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
* Demonstrate confidence and determination at critical times.
* Possess NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Spectator Safety Management.
* Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft office or similar packages.
* Possess a strong customer service ethos.
* Knowledge of industry specific legislation and regulations.
* A minimum of 2 years working in the field of safety management, ideally within a matchday/sport setting.
