Job Description:
The Surgical Unit at the Royal Cornwall Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is no different, with innovation and early adoption central to its core values. To support this work, we are looking to appoint EGS Consultants with a sub-specialty interest in either Colorectal, Paediatrics, or complex interventional endoscopy. The successful applicant(s) will join an existing team of Emergency Surgeons. Our department is fully funded and supported through the National Forum for Acute Surgeons.
Full support will be in place to develop all and any subspecialty interests within the job plan.
Main duties of the job:
* Work with the current specialty leads to build the initial working patterns and operating procedures for the department.
* Develop ambulatory and alternative provision models to support patients.
* Provide an Emergency General Surgery (EGS) service of the highest standards for Cornwall.
* Develop a specialty interest within children's general surgery, colorectal, or upper GI surgery.
* Share responsibilities with colleagues for the day-to-day management of the EGS department.
* Teach and train junior staff and medical students in EGS.
* Fulfill duties of the weekly timetable, including any out-of-hours.
* Provide patient cover for off-site/absent consultants.
* Engage in flexible timetabling and support colleagues throughout the multidisciplinary team.
