An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste Management Delivery Service, as such Leicestershire County Council is looking to recruit to Plant Operatives to support in the operation of the Council’s Waste Transfer Stations (WTS).
Both positions are working full time (5 days per week which will include working weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays every week, Bank Holidays that fall within working patterns paid as double time).
About the Role
You will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy plant and equipment that will include 5CX, loading shovels, telehandlers, and forklift trucks for the efficient and effective transfer of waste from a busy RHWS and WTS, in strict accordance with safe systems of work. The role will also involve maximising the recovery of recyclables within waste and safely controlling deliveries from residents, private traders and district councils. The role is based in a Household Recycling Waste Site with occasional working on a Waste Transfer Station and involves working outdoors. It is expected that the successful candidates will have previous experience of operating a 5CX, loading shovels and telehandlers at waste or construction sites. However, training may be provided to suitable candidates that have no previous experience of operating this type of plant.
Successful candidates will be based on Whetstone RHWS; but all candidates must be prepared to be based at any of the three sites on a day-to-day basis.
About You

* 5CX/Loading shovel ticket (training may be provided to suitable candidates that do not currently have a valid loading shovel ticket)
* A full, Clean & Valid UK Driving License and insurance for business use
* A knowledge of waste transfer station operations
* Health and safety conscious
* Effective time-management and problem-solving skills
* A basic level of IT skills
