We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our busy Haematology team. The successful candidates will be working closely with the Consultants/nurses and other members of the Multidisciplinary team supporting them to work clinically by undertaking the non-clinical elements that are required to support efficiency of the workplace. We are seeking individuals with good communication skills, a methodical approach to work and a willingness and aptitude to learn our in-house IT systems.
The successful candidates will provide an essential support service to the efficient running of the Reception in the Haematology Unit. They must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as being able to work on their own initiative. They must have a good level of computer skills, be able to communicate effectively and work well under pressure. The highest standard of data quality input is required at all times.
The successful candidate will be required to liaise with and offer support to all members of the team to ensure tasks are carried out in a prompt and efficient manner keeping patient experience at the forefront.
A flexible approach and willingness to work across different areas within the department as and when required is essential.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work under pressure and be self-motivated.
Main duties of the job
* Booking in of patients attending Same Day Emergency Care onto the hospital computer systems (camis, symphony and spreadsheet).
* Liaising with health care professionals and booking in patients on arrival.
* Receiving and dealing with telephone messages as required.

Job responsibilities
* Cancel or change appointments according to clinic rules and procedures.
* Reception duties on out-patient clinics, ensuring all computer details are maintained correctly.
* Pre-clinic preparation, responsible for checking that necessary paperwork is available for patient reviews, ordering and booking in of hospital notes as required by the department.
* Notifying Overseas Department of any visitors attending Same Day Emergency Care and taking relevant information.
* Scanning attendance notes onto the system.
* Admitting, discharging and transferring patients on CAMIS.
* Filing and scanning in Patient Records of Same Day Emergency Care Specialist notes.
* Photocopying, faxing, referrals as required and all other routine office duties.
* Dealing with all enquiries from members of the public.
* Liaising with all levels of staff.
* Being aware of the Data Protection Act, Fire, Health & Safety and ensuring that all Trust Policies are adhered to.
* Attending mandatory courses within due times.
* Any other duties which may be required.
* Liaising with all multidisciplinary levels across all directorates. Having the ability to interpret and convey information accurately and concisely.
* To participate in any in-house training and awareness sessions to keep up to date with the transit time target.
Person Specification
Education, Training and Qualifications
* Minimum 3 GCSE at grade C or equivalent, including English.
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of working in a busy, challenging environment.
* Experience of working in the NHS.
Skills
* Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
* Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of staff.
