Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties to include but not be limited to:
* Communicates all relevant clinical trial information to members of the clinical trial pharmacy team, wider pharmacy team, colleagues within R&I, trial participants and service users, and with external organisations as required
* Deliver as part of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team, all duties required in relation to the service
* To ensure all clinical trial prescriptions are dispensed correctly within the required timescales
* Liaises with Senior Clinical Pharmacists in their review of clinical trials within their speciality
* Act as an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Accuracy Checker
* Oversees all elements of stock management, for IMPs and NIMPs, ensuring tasks are carried out comprehensively and accurately, in a timely fashion
* Minimises medicines wastage and medicines spend within clinical trials service and wider pharmacy service
* Reviews and advises on financial costings for new studies in feasibility stages, liaising with other pharmacy areas or external departments as necessary
* Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice, policies and legislation
* Supports the training and development of pharmacy team
* Contribute to the formal handling and investigating of complaints, error reports, accident/incident reports and monitor for preventative and/or corrective action and improvement

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services with underpinning knowledge provided by the BTEC Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences OR Other recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification meeting requirements for registration with GPhC
* Pharmacy Technician Accuracy Checking Certificate equivalent to the National Framework
* Registration with GPhC and evidence of continuous CPD
* Valid Good Clinical Practice certificate (can be obtained once in post)
Desirable criteria
* Post-Graduate Leadership and Management Development qualification
* Relevant specialist Post- Graduate qualification
* Pharmacy-specific clinical trials training
* APTUK Member
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of research and clinical trial processes
* Understanding of national and regional research agenda
* Understanding of current pharmacy and NHS issues
* Knowledge of GDP and GCP guidelines, legislation and guidance governing clinical trials practices
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures and clinical governance
* Good knowledge of drug therapies
* IT and Computer systems experience, including Pharmacy specific systems
* Knowledge of COSHH Regulations
* Health & Safety at Work Act
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge and practical experience of managing staff and resources
* Experience of audit and service improvement
* Experience of prioritising service activity and own workload to meet deadlines
* Experience in using electronic patient records systems
* Experience with automated pharmacy systems
* Experience in using the EMIS Pharmacy Computer System
* Experience in using iQemo Pharmacy Computer System
