2493 – Applications Support Specialist
We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Applications Support Specialist to join our team. As Application Support Specialist, you will have proven experience of supporting business applications and will have an aptitude for technical troubleshooting with the ability to work on your own initiative driving tasks forward to completion. The ideal candidate will be based in Aberdeen; however we will also consider candidates with a preference for remote working who can undertake occasional trips to site in Aberdeen or London.
What you’ll do
* Be embedded in projects delivering a multitude of different solutions from SaaS to Desktop Applications and Data integrations
* Support the product portfolio of Business and Engineering applications from both a run and build perspective
* Maintain applications in line with product roadmaps with lifecycle planning
* Deliver application support related BAU services
* Installation, configuration, administration, support, maintenance and troubleshooting of application portfolio
* Related hardware accessory support and asset management
* Responsible for testing and patching of applications
* Work with third party vendors to ensure services are supported
* Maintain systems documentation, ensuring knowledge base articles and IS guides are up to date
* Ensure events and demand are dealt with within agreed SLAs
* Deploy and manage solutions to meet defined business specific needs as defined through the product maps/lifecycles
What to bring
* Proven experience of supporting business applications
* Experience supporting desktop client front-end applications and web-based applications
* Understanding and experience of troubleshooting client/server applications
* Aptitude for technical troubleshooting and understanding application errors and log files to identify root cause
* Experience of project working such as migration/upgrade of existing services, roll out of new solutions
* Strong documentation skills
* Experience and understanding of ITIL service management (incidents, requests, change management, problem management), ideally with experience of ServiceNow
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to liaise with various areas of the business such as internal IT colleagues and external vendors
* Experience of working in an Agile way
* Ideally experience with the following:
-Microsoft DevOps suite – DevOps Boards and DevOps Code repositories
-Python
-SQL Server
-IIS
-Cloud Services (Azure/AWS)
* Ability to work on own initiative and drive tasks forward to completion
* Ability to self-manage and prioritise workload
