Following an investment in our Pharmacy Theatres and Anaesthetic Team, we are looking to recruit a senior support worker (Band 3) to assist the Surgical Pharmacy Team in providing an efficient, cost-effective, and timely service to all theatres at Kettering General Hospital.
This post is suitable for candidates who can show an aptitude for self-motivation, good inter-personal skills, and good team working skills. Previous pharmacy experience is not essential, and suitable candidates may come from backgrounds with transferable skills and knowledge e.g. HCA, catering, laboratory work, etc.
The successful candidate must be flexible and able to work in a busy and demanding environment. Enthusiasm and good communication skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
The role will include working alongside the Pharmacy Stores Team and Surgical Pharmacy Team, auditing, dealing with supply problems, monitoring the use of controlled drugs in high-risk areas, implementing and training theatre staff, and working closely with the Anaesthetic and Theatres team. The role is ideal for someone highly motivated, able to follow detailed procedures, and possessing great interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will have 5 G.C.S.E’s including Maths, English Language, and a science (Chemistry, Physics, or Biology) grade A-C or an equivalent qualification.
All training for the role will be provided.

* 5 GCSEs (including English, Maths, Science A-C)
* Appropriate NVQ2 units in Pharmacy services
Knowledge/Experience/Skill
* Demonstrate the ability to work to procedures

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50), which will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019, all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy, which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years' time.
Please note that new starters with KGH are subject to a six-month probationary period.
