Project Overview:
For more than 70 years, Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) has supported the UK Government's nuclear defence strategy and the Continuous At Sea Deterrent. They use nuclear know:how and technical expertise to provide innovative solutions that support the UK's counter:terrorism and nuclear threat reduction activities. Like Bechtel, they create and maintain a safe operating culture where safety is front and centre of everything they do. From building state:of:the:art facilities, to supporting Production, Science, Engineering and Technology programmes, the management of Environment, Safety, Health and Wellbeing underpins all activities at AWE. The Materials Capability project is a part of the wider Future Materials Campus (FMC) endeavour and is responsible for providing recovery and storage facilities.
Job Summary:
:
Assists teams to incorporate environmentalrequirements, evaluates and applies risk management principles, and acts as site safety coordinator/inspector.
:
Provides environmentaltechnical assistance to other project personnel.
:
Guides, coaches, and motivates others to implement environmentalpolicies and standards.
:
Promotes integrity, technical competence, and commitment to environmental.
This position is designated as part:time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in:person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in:person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership
Major Responsibilities:
:
Reviews work packages method statements and risk assessments.
:
Works with Engineering and Procurementto ensure that environmentalrequirements are incorporated into designs, processes, and procedures.
:
Attends meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to communicate on environmentalrequirements and lessons learned.
:
Conducts project incident investigations and notifications; documents factors contributing to an incident and ensures the preparation of required reports.
:
Supports project/siteenvironmentalcommittee and facilitates the craft:based leadership program.
:
Ensures environmental compliance ofactivities to contractual commitments, permits, and the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
Education and Experience Requirements:
A degree or higher in Environmental Sciences or related engineering discipline
Required Knowledge and Skills:
:
Knowledge of environmentalmanagement systems, principles, terminology, and methodologies.
