As part of this contract, the successful candidate will be required to work 10 hours per week in the Blaenau Gwent area and 13 hours per week in the Newport area. A full driving licence and access to a car are essential for this role. Where does the role fit into Pobl? Our FIPP (Family Intervention and Prevention) Project offers intensive, holistic support to families in crisis living in all tenures; the majority of families are social or private tenants. We accepts referrals from any agency, with most coming from landlords, social work, police and health visitors. We use a trauma-informed approach and are trained to carry out the Freedom Programme (for those who have experienced abusive relationships) along with parenting programmes. Between 80-90% of families have Social Services involvement; Anti-Social behaviour, truancy, interaction with the criminal justice system, substance misuse, poor home conditions and other concerns. We work with each family, exploring their own goals. We work with every parent and every child in a family, taking a coordinating role with other services to ensure the needs of the family are met. As a FIPP Case Worker, you will: Ensure the provision of effective development, management and delivery of services to families at risk as outlined in the FIPP model. Case manage family support referrals from participating Local Authorities and investigate cases of anti-social behaviour, nuisance and harassment occurring within these areas. Work proactively and engage with families who are perceived to be ‘hard to reach’ using positive but persistent and assertive approaches in order to gain trust and bring about positive changes in behaviour and improve outcomes for the whole family. Provide practical advice to managers, staff and tenants in dealing with cases of neighbour nuisance and anti-social behaviour. Support families to prepare for possible legal action. Networking and building relationships with external partners Skills and experience required: Have relevant experience of working with and supporting vulnerable people and/or families and have awareness of the issues that can affect children and family life. You’ll have experience of working in a multi-agency setting. Have excellent communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to relate and empathise with a diverse range of people. Be able to respond positively and innovatively to new challenges. Have the ability to analyse and assess complex situations. Have the ability to work assertively and persistently, empower people to make positive changes, and help them to problem solve difficulties. Be able to liaise and negotiate with other agencies on behalf of people in crisis. Be able to work alone with minimal supervision, whilst also being able to work as part of a team. qualification or demonstrate extensive work in an associated field. Have good IT skills.
