Join us as a Senior Scientist and make an invaluable contribution to our Food Safety & Biosecurity This position is based in the Insect Bioconversion team where you will work alongside researchers in the broader Entomology team. The Insect Bioconversion team undertakes research projects for the private sector and government departments nationally and internationally. We are seeking an experienced researcher who can make a significant contribution to our research portfolio in this area. What you’ll be doing: You will play a key role in the science development and delivery of research projects in the insect bioconversion area. This will include working with colleagues on the quality and safety of insect derived products. You will be accountable for the successful and efficient delivery of projects working with the broader team and supervising junior colleagues as appropriate. You will prepare effective written reports and deliver talks, presentations and training to visitors, colleagues, and external customers, as required. You will work closely with the science lead to grow the business in this area and as such will be able to demonstrate experience of drafting costed proposals. You will promote, ensure and train others in the application of quality standards, H&S requirements and licences relevant to the workplace and research area. What we’re looking for: A BSc/MSc/PhD in a relevant subject with practical experience and knowledge in entomology. Experience working in a lab, ideally with some leadership experience. A self-motivated scientist with an ability to manage and deliver project work to cost, time and quality requirements. Knowledge of animal feed and food safety. Ability to produce effective project reports and to communicate research findings to a range of audiences. An ability to engage with various stakeholders and communicate work effectively and with clarity, both verbally and written UK driving licence and flexibility to be able to travel for research (possibly internationally).
