Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, and self-motivated individual to join our expanding pharmacy clinical trials team. The team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust comprises approximately 500 pharmacy staff working across five sites and is one of the biggest pharmacy departments in the country.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Band 5 pharmacy technician specializing in clinical trials. We work closely with other departments within the pharmacy, medical, university, and research staff to support clinical trials at our Trust.
We will provide clinical trials training, support you to complete NIHR GCP training, and become a competent member of the pharmacy clinical trials team.
Main duties of the job
You will participate in the planning, organization, provision, and maintenance of the clinical trials service and be part of the flexible working team in line with current departmental policies and procedures for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, current UK and EU legislation.

Person specification
Qualifications
* GPhC registration
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification
* Accredited Checking Technician Status (or working towards) or checking experience in a hospital aseptic unit
* Evidence of CPD
* Willing to undertake GCP training in line with Trust requirements for research
* Aseptic services Module NVQ level 3
* Completed NIHR GCP training
* Completed a clinical trials technician competency.
Experience
* Experience of working as part of a team
* Experience of delegation/organization
* Previous aseptics experience in the preparation of intravenous additives including cytotoxic drugs and adult and neonatal TPN.
* Experience of dispensing Chemocare prescriptions
* Recent and relevant experience of dispensing clinical trial prescriptions and completed dispensing competency for clinical trials
Further Training
* Microsoft Office Packages – evidence of short courses or relevant experience
* Health and Safety training
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Evidence of following written and verbal instructions and SOPs
* Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Coaching/mentoring skills.
