Wood is recruiting for a site based Overhead Lines (OHL) Transmission General Foreman to join the Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd entity, overseeing multi-disciplinary teams on overhead line transmission projects. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality construction supervision, uphold safety standards without compromising staff or environmental integrity, and coordinate efforts among Foremen, Linesmen, Support Staff, and sub-contractors while liaising effectively with clients and third parties to meet company goals and schedules. This role is site based primarily in the Scottish central belt region with long term project sites based in Argyll and Bute supporting our client SSE. This opportunity is a site-based position, we have works issued under various OHL frameworks which mean the position is UK wide. You will need to be flexible in your work location as you will be away from home for periods of time and will travel and work across the UK. Expected: Previous site supervision of Overhead Line contracts for refurbishment and new build operations from engineering, construction, or utilities background Demonstrable experience of leading and supervising wiring/erecting gangs, including work allocation, performance, recruitment, and formal procedures Proven experience of supervising technical aspects of line construction, including civil teams and subcontractors (access & accommodation works, traffic management, scaffolds, metal access roads, yard set-up, welfare facilities, tower erection & assembly, re-conductoring & refurbishment for all voltages & overhead configurations) Demonstrated management of subcontractors and recording measurement details for financial settlement Familiarity with Health and Safety and Quality policies - Highly motivated leader with a "can do" attitude, capable of motivating and influencing diverse groups Team player who leads by example and is committed to continuous improvement Strong communication, networking, influencing, and interpersonal skills Trustworthy, approachable, and safety-focused with a strong risk management approach Possesses manual dexterity, resilience, commitment, and determination Highly organized, able to prioritize under pressure, and capable of working to specific procedures Effective listener and instructor, ensuring high standards and timely completion of work.
