Purpose: We are seeking a technically able and commercially aware case handler to join the Landlord and Tenant team in our Dispute Resolution Group, part of the Civil Litigation Division. You will predominantly deal with a wide range of commercial and residential landlord & tenant disputes. You will be acting for individuals, businesses and financial institutions. The clients that you will be acting for are both privately paying, and LEI funded. The role includes assisting the Landlord and Tenant team and may involve supervisory responsibilities. The work is challenging but rewarding and the team places a high value on mutual support and co-operation. This role has the option of being part office working and part remote working. Our Team currently work out of our Bristol and Leeds offices so ideally you will be able to attend internal meetings at either our Bristol or Leeds office when required. Duties/Responsibilities : Reporting to the partner in charge of the Landlord & Tenant team the primary focus of the role is: Management of a personal caseload of between 25 and 40 varied, complex and often high value cases, including responsibility for day-to-day client relationships; and assisting the partner with proactive management and supervision of other members of the team. The ability to meet strict deadlines and to comply with service standards will be essential. Skills/Competencies and Experience required: Intellectual curiosity, commerciality and practicality Strong technical knowledge of the law relating to landlord and tenant claims A minimum of 4 years’ experience dealing with with landlord and tenant, leaseholder disputes, commercial property and banking litigation at solicitor or equivalent level experience of supervision of possession claims Ability to deal flexibly with a wide range of work types, work sources and clients Confidence to take responsibility for cases, relationships and strategy Team Player Excellent communication skills Ambitious and keen to take on new challenges and projects Desirable Knowledge of enforcement and debt recovery work Experience in business development; Experience in delivering training to colleagues and external organisations Experience of a wide range of litigation work sources and funding arrangements as well as a good mix of acting for claimants and defendants; Education required: Candidates will need to be a fully qualified solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx or with equivalent experience.
