The role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant is a multi-faceted role and pivotal in supporting patients during their admission, working together towards discharge and their on-going recovery journey. Main duties of the job Support the Occupational Therapists in facilitating meaningful interventions to patients both on and off the wards. Contribute to occupational therapy assessments under supervision of the Occupational Therapist Facilitate/co-facilitate groups and one to one sessions that cover the areas of self-care, leisure interests, vocational, domestic or social skills as directed by the Occupational Therapist as part of an individual's intervention plan. Provide interventions that focus on promoting independence and meaningful social engagement, to meet the individual recovery focused needs of patients in this setting. Contribute to development of the service Work both as part of a team but also autonomously, with lone working a component of the role.
