Job Description
We are currently seeking a Residential Childcare Worker to take a lead role in a team providing a flexible range of services to children, families, and service users across various settings (e.g., residential, day care, special schools, and community).
Due to the nature of the role, an Enhanced DBS and a full driving licence will be required as travel across the county is necessary.
About the Role:
* Prepare, implement, and review individual Care Plans and liaise with birth families, social workers, and other professionals, e.g., education and health services. Act as ‘key worker’ to individual service users where required.
* Encourage service users to develop independence and manage emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* Work positively with children and young people presenting emotional and behavioural difficulties and safeguard them from harm. Undertake risk assessments and risk management strategies. Be prepared to engage in positive handling.
* Supervise the administration of medication and use of specialised equipment. Keep accurate medication records in accordance with Departmental policy.
* Maintain health and safety for self and others in the performance of duties in accordance with the Department’s Health and Safety policies.
* Participate in a working rota designed to meet the needs of the service and contribute to positive working relationships within the team. Undertake sleeping-in duties on a rota basis when required.
About You:
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Hold QCF level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s workforce (NVQ3).
* Ability to engage with children and young people and manage behavioural and emotional difficulties.
* Knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to the care, education, health, and development of children and young people.
* Substantial experience of providing direct care for children and young people.
* Sound experience of working with service users with learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour.
* Flexible to work the hours necessary to meet the needs of the service.
