Responsibilities
Job summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to join our Financial Risk team within the Risk Function at NHBC. In this role, you’ll have the chance to provide valuable insights and assurance to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) on a broad spectrum of financial risks, ranging from insurance pricing and reserving to investment, reinsurance, and underwriting.
You’ll be integral in assessing both current and emerging risks, playing a key part in shaping NHBC’s financial risk strategy. What you’ll be doing
As a member of the Financial Risk team within the Risk Function, the primary goal is to provide insightful perspectives and assurance to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) on a range of financial risks (insurance pricing and reserving, investment, assets & liabilities management, reinsurance, underwriting) impacting NHBC, encompassing both current risks and emerging threats.
1. Assist in delivering the financial risk strategy aligned with the holistic Enterprise Risk Management Framework, covering policies, procedures, risk appetite, stress and scenario testing, risk management information (MI), and risk governance.
2. Collaborate with first-line functions to support, guide, and challenge the identification, management, and monitoring of financial risk, including areas such as credit risk and insurance risk, including pricing, reserving and reinsurance counterparty.
3. Provide assurance over Financial Risk activities within the 1st line through periodic in-depth reviews, investigations, and oversight.
4. Support the development, validation, monitoring and reporting of risk MI to the CRO and relevant governance bodies, and validation of the economic capital model.

2. Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail, the ability to identify key issues, and a proven track record of developing effective solutions.
3. Knowledge of market practice, relevant legislation and insurance market environment, awareness of emerging market developments.
4. Individual with a proven ability to build strong relationships, confident with presenting information and engaging effectively with all stakeholders.
5. Degree in a relevant financial or risk management discipline.
6. Financial Risk Management (FRM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or working towards obtaining.
