Job responsibilities
JOBPURPOSE
You'll work as part of an integratedteam of nurses and nursing assistants delivering high quality, individualisedcare to patients referred to St Catherine's Hospice, and their families.
You'll have the ability to workindependently as well as part of a team. Using teamwork and cooperation, you'llcontribute to a positive, supportive and professional working environment.
Under clinical direction, nursingassistants help to deliver high standards of holistic and individualisedpatient care, embracing the hospice's vision and values.

Experience
Essential
1. Experience of caring
2. Awareness of health and safety procedures and infection prevention and control and how they affect people in the workplace
3. Excellent professional communication skills
4. Awareness of ways that may help to overcome barriers to communication eg dementia, sensory disability, confusion, Non-English speaking, etc
5. Ability to use own initiative to plan own work for the shift in order to meet the needs of a given group of patients
6. Ability to work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
7. An understanding of basic nutrition needs
8. Able to demonstrate methods of promoting dignity
9. Communication skills, both verbal and written, proficient in English
10. Be able to effectively communicate with compassion and understanding with people on a variety of levels using tact, diplomacy, and empathy
11. Ability to undertake training and direct own learning
Desirable
12. Experience of delivering care to patients within a Hospice, Hospital, Community or Care Home
13. An understanding of the nature of hospice work, and an ability to seek support for his/herself as a result of distressing
