Freelance Site Agent – Highways Capital Works\nRate: Competitive (DOE) + Mileage & Expenses\nContract: Freelance\n\nAn industry-leading Tier 1 Main Contractor is looking for an experienced Site Agent to manage a portfolio of highways capital works projects. These projects range in value from £1m to £8m and are delivered under NEC4 contracts. This is a freelance opportunity offering the chance to work on high-profile infrastructure schemes with a well-established contractor.\n\nRole Overview:\n\nAs a Site Agent, you will be responsible for the overall delivery of multiple highways projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
You will manage a team of Site Managers and Supervisors, working closely with the client, supply chain, and commercial teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of multiple capital works projects within the highways sector.\n\n * Lead and manage a team of Site Managers and Supervisors, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance.\n\n * Ensure health, safety, and environmental regulations are adhered to, with a strong focus on RAMS, temporary works, and lifting operations.\n\n * Take responsibility for commercial and contractual aspects, working closely with quantity surveyors and project teams to manage budgets and costs.\n\n * Ensure compliance with NEC4 contract requirements, maintaining accurate project records and reporting progress.\n\n * Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and supply chain partners to ensure smooth project delivery.\n\n * Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and method statements to uphold quality and safety standards.\n\nKey Requirements:\n\n * SMSTS & Black CSCS Card (Essential).\n\n * Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.\n\n * Proven experience delivering highways capital works projects, ideally with values between £1m and £8m.\n\n * Strong understanding of NEC4 contracts and experience working under their terms.\n\n * Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to manage budgets, costs, and contractual obligations.\n\n * Temporary Works Coordinator and\n\n * Appointed Person for Lifting\n\n * Proficient in managing health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and method statements.\n\n * Full UK driving licence and willingness to use own vehicle (mileage expenses covered).\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role within a high-profile highways programme, working for a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of work.\n\nImmediate start available
