The Pall Mall Surgery has an opportunity for a prescription clerk to join our busy medicines management team, at the heart of our patient care service. This role is offered on a part time basis. 15 hours per week, to cover Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The main responsibilities of the role include: Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned promptly and in line with surgery protocols. Responding to all queries and requests regarding the issue of prescriptions. Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in the patient journal, such as letters and doctors' requests. Sending out review letters. Organising blood tests (through ICE system) or blood pressure checks for patients, relevant to their prescribing needs. General ad hoc administration work. Flexibility to cover for annual leave and sickness within the department Keeping up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols, relevant to the position. About the Candidate The ideal candidate will: Possess experience of working in a busy, public environment. Be flexible, with a positive attitude. Demonstrate good team working and communication skills. Demonstrate an excellent standard of patient care. Have strong attention to detail. Ensure clear and polite verbal and written communication with patients, healthcare professionals, and pharmacy staff. Have the ability to manage telephone queries and resolve issues effectively and to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. Have knowledge of Repeat Prescription Processes: Have an understanding of how to handle repeat prescription requests efficiently. Have an understanding of Confidentiality: Knowledge of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and patient confidentiality protocols. Have empathy and patience: Essential for interacting with patients who may be unwell or stressed. Have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a busy GP practice. General practice experience and knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage.
