The post holder will be a part of the Estates and Facilities team at Lancaster Medical Practice, providing grounds maintenance services, both planned and reactive, for all Lancaster Medical Practice properties. The post holder is expected to provide a basic repair and maintenance service and will carry out necessary grounds maintenance tasks to ensure the safety of Lancaster Medical Practice site grounds and car parks. The post holder will work to Lancaster Medical Practice's policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
1. Carry out planned and requisition maintenance requests to all grounds and gardens managed by Lancaster Medical Practice.
2. Ensure main entrances are litter-free, swept, and power-washed when required.
3. Ensure all paths, entrances, car parks, and walkways are free of obstruction from trees, tree leaves, shrubs, weeds, or plant material.
4. Water all new planting, tubs, and hanging baskets either seasonally or until plant maturity. Weed kill and remove all weeds from the site.
5. Strim, mow, and prune according to seasonal demands.
6. Reinstate areas damaged by general use.
7. Use and maintain machinery and equipment including mowers, blowers, and sweepers.
8. Clear light wells and gullies of weeds and debris.
9. Plan and maintain flower beds around the sites.
10. Ensure that all perimeter areas including fencing are litter-free and in a good state of repair.
11. Gardens around all sites to be maintained throughout the year.
12. Ensure that all equipment is signed out at the start of each day, and all maintenance sheets are adhered to and any defect is reported.

Job responsibilities
1. Ensure that snow clearance around the site is carried out as per the site plan and ensure that all entrances are gritted during the winter months when required.
2. Ensure all works directed are carried out in a timely manner, recognising the operations and requirements of all Lancaster Medical Practice buildings.
3. Undertake training where necessary.
4. Report any defects noted across the Lancaster Medical Practice estate to the Estate and Facilities Managers in the first instance.
5. Carry out site inspections as required.
6. Use a flexible approach to deliver responsibilities, which sometimes require working outside of core hours.
7. Any other duties as required by the Estates and Facilities Managers, commensurate with the grade of the post.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience that demonstrates good attention to detail.
* Previous experience of carrying out practical grounds maintenance duties in a similar role.
* Experience of working in a confidential environment.
* Previous experience of working in General Practice, NHS, or Healthcare setting.
Qualifications
* English GCSE (or equivalent) Level C or equivalent experience.
* City and Guilds relevant certification.
