Job Title: Building Services Mechanical Services Contracts Manager
Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire
Salary: £60,000-£65,000 per annum (negotiable, dependent on experience) + car allowance
Holidays: 25 days per annum
Role Overview
A leading building services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Services Contracts Manager to oversee the full project lifecycle of mechanical installation works across a range of commercial and public sector developments. This is a key role with a strong focus on project delivery, commercial control, and technical oversight.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in managing mechanical engineering projects valued at £1.5 million or more, with a background in commercial, industrial, or public sector environments. Strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and project management skills are essential.
Responsibilities
1. Manage mechanical services installation contracts from estimate handover to final account agreement
2. Procure plant, materials, and subcontractor packages, ensuring best value
3. Forecast and control spend using purchasing software and Excel-based tools
4. Analyse labour requirements and manage associated costs
5. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and programme adherence
6. Ensure project delivery aligns with contractual targets
7. Prepare monthly payment applications and variation costings
8. Oversee preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements
9. Monitor Health & Safety compliance for on-site and off-site teams
10. Prepare regular progress reports for senior management
11. Liaise with clients, engineers, architects, surveyors, and internal teams
12. Attend project and technical meetings
13. Manage multiple concurrent projects effectively
14. Support tender preparation and bid submissions
15. Collate project certifications and compile O&M manuals
16. Respond to client needs and feedback promptly and professionally
Key Skills & Requirements
1. Strong project management experience in mechanical services
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
3. Proven leadership and team management abilities
4. Commercially astute with budgeting and financial forecasting skills
5. Methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
7. Knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical engineering principles
8. Familiarity with CAD (beneficial but not essential)
9. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and build lasting relationships
10. Highly organised and self-motivated
