We’re looking to appoint a Teacher of PE who has the subject knowledge and ability to inspire our extremely engaged and diverse student body. The school has an excellent reputation for team success at local, borough, county and regional level across a range of sports. The successful candidate will be an all-round PE teacher who can teach the major curriculum activities including netball, hockey, tennis, athletics, volleyball, badminton, cricket and football, and GCSE PE.
The school’s ethos of excellence in sport sits comfortably alongside an approach that promotes participation in physical activity for fun, health and recreation – adopting the #thisgirlcan campaign philosophy. We run an extensive fixture list, competing predominantly against independent schools, and offer a well-established and flourishing extra-curricular programme, which is supported by external coaches. Students have the option to attend sports trips and try out for the Wimbledon Ball Girl/Boy Programme.
There are impressive facilities on site: a new Sports Hall, large field, a hockey Astro, 5 netball courts, 5 tennis courts, and two gymnasiums.
Candidates suitable for the role will:
* Have strong subject knowledge and a passion for PE.
* Be able to stretch and challenge able students to achieve highly.
* Be committed to supporting the full range of fixtures and clubs outside of school, and the lunchtime extra-curricular provision.
* Be passionate about personal and professional development and demonstrate a willingness to engage with the findings of evidence-based research through our whole school CPD programme.
* Have the ability to communicate effectively with all staff, students and parents.
* Be able to teach GCSE PE.
We can offer:
* The opportunity to join a highly successful PE department with a wide range of experience and expertise.
* A stimulating and creative environment in a school where extra-curricular activities flourish and teachers are encouraged to introduce new and innovative activities.
* A well-established curriculum with high quality lesson resources available for all key stages.
* Internal subject specific CPD run by the department and supported by our extra-curricular coaches.
* A diverse workplace, with an engaged student and staff community who are currently collaborating on a review of the school’s approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.
* A caring environment where the work-life balance of teachers is proactively supported.
* A two-week October half term.
* Numerous other benefits (please see our attached information pack).
