As an Enhanced Care Support Worker, you will be an integral part of the Enhanced Care Team, delivering 1:1 enhanced therapeutic care, personal support, and supervision to meet the additional physical and psychological wellbeing of patients. Enhanced care and support will focus on patient-centred care giving and holistic activity and care planning to support the patients' changing needs during their hospital stay.
This is a relatively new team to the trust which will develop and evolve with our collaborative team working approach to ensure we meet the advancing demand of the service whilst providing safe, patient care and supervision.
The Enhanced Care Team provides 1:1 patient support and supervision on the wards across both Telford and Shrewsbury hospital sites. The post holder will be under the direction and supervision of ward Registered Nurses and Ward Managers. The team will be responsible to the Clinical Lead for Enhanced Care.
Flexibility in working across shifts, wards, and sites is integral and will be required to meet the needs of the patients and service. Permanent night shifts and weekends can be discussed further at interview.
Main duties of the job
Enhanced Care Support Workers provide high-quality enhanced personal care, support, and supervision, respecting people's dignity, inclusive of their individual needs and preferences. Compassion and kindness to enhance patient health, wellbeing, and experience is essential.
1. Providing patient 1:1 care and support through observation and interaction, aiming to reduce the risk of patient harm whilst enhancing patient experience.
2. All patient personal care needs, support, and supervision is patient-centred and inclusive.
3. Activities for patient therapeutic stimulation and enjoyment will be planned.
4. Support new team members.
5. A mandatory 2-week training programme for the fundamental learning of the healthcare service and ongoing support will be provided to ensure the role is undertaken confidently and competently. Additional bespoke training will be required to confidently undertake the role proficiently.

Whilst you will be aware of your roster allocation in advance due to the nature of the role and needs of the service, there will be times that flexibility will be required.
This post will require rotation duties, work on different wards including the Emergency department and across Trust sites at both Telford and Shrewsbury.
