Technical Author – Broadcast Industry Location: Thatcham, Berkshire, UK (Hybrid) Position Type: Part-time / Full-time / Permanent or Contract About the Role As a Technical Author with support responsibilities, this position offers an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK’s leading broadcast test and measurement companies. Key Responsibilities • Writing, editing, and updating technical user manuals, installation manuals, and support documentation. • Working closely with R&D, product management, test/service teams, senior management, and manufacturing teams. • Maintaining document control and document management requirements. • Ensuring all documentation is accurate, clear, and aligned with company standards. • Contributing to and proposing improvements for documentation and processes. • Working in an agile or SCRUM environment. • Ensuring all documentation meets quality, timeframes, and industry specifications. • Supporting verification and validation of technical documentation with subject matter experts. • Collaborating with external partners and vendors on content creation and maintenance. Minimum Requirements • 5 years of experience as a Technical Author. • Previous experience in broadcast, preferably in a broadcast manufacturing company. Desirable Technical Knowledge Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage: • Video technologies, including HDR and WCG. • Audio processing, including PCM, Dolby, and Loudness. • ANC (Closed Captions and Time Code). • Broadcast Video, Audio, and ANC Instrumentation. • SDI, SMPTE 2022-6, 2110, PTP. • IP and Networking. • Broadcast Systems. Software & Tools Experience • Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator. • MadCap Flare. • Microsoft Office Suite. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
