Data and Insight (D&I) is a diverse team that carries out a wide range of activities that enable other parts of Ofsted to function effectively. These activities include the provision of pre-inspection information and advice, analysis of inspection evidence and outcomes and the publication of statistical and research information to inform Ofsted and the general public about what we are finding through our inspection and regulatory work. This helps inform policy development and public debate across education and social care. Underpinning these outputs are a range of essential activities which enable access to the right information at the right time. These include developing and maintaining Ofsted's data warehouse, acquiring the data Ofsted needs to carry out its business, and maximising data use through innovative methods.
