Post No. PE1060.1 - Senior Building Control Surveyor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Senior Registered Building Inspector in Newport. Newport is a city on the rise and has ambitious growth and regeneration ambitions. Current LABC projects include the £78 million Component Manufacturing facility, a number of large scale commercial and housing developments, and a school rebuild programme.
The post will provide an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Building Control Surveyor at a senior level. You will join a robust team of five surveyors with a technical support team. Your role will be to manage all types of building projects within the City that require an advanced technical level as you will be providing an expert opinion on issues arising on a daily basis. This role involves significant case management relating to enforcement of unauthorized building works, and you will confidently manage where buildings are deemed dangerous and cause risk as part of a standby duty rota.
The successful candidate will be hard-working, self-motivated, and a team player. A HND/HNC in a construction-related subject is essential and registered to Class 2 level under the Building Safety Act 2022. A degree in a construction-related subject and previous Building Control experience are desirable.
We are seeking an experienced Building Control professional who can manage a range of varying development projects across Newport. You will demonstrate a proven track record of having surveyed more complex developments and having promoted high standards in working practice under the Building Regulations as expected within the City. You will possess sound technical skills with the ability to problem-solve within a diverse range of construction projects. This role will entail the responsibility to mentor less experienced staff and be able to offer guidance and support where needed.
This post is a full-time permanent position.
