The Role We are seeking an experienced IT professional to deliver high-quality IT services, ensuring the provision, support, and compliance of servers, storage, and virtual infrastructure—both on-premises and in cloud environments. You will play a key role in maintaining and optimising our IT infrastructure to meet or exceed client and stakeholder expectations. Key Responsibilities Proactively administer and manage Ricardo’s IT infrastructure. Handle incident and event management, ensuring swift resolution. Oversee change management processes. Manage vulnerability and patch updates to maintain security. Implement Privileged Access Management (PAM) protocols. Conduct cost analysis for cloud services and plan for obsolescence. Resolve 2nd and 3rd line support tickets efficiently. Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-call support as required. Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standards. Monitor infrastructure performance and implement necessary improvements. Support other technology objectives as required. Key Competencies and Experience Extensive experience in an IT or technology department, including: Administration and management of Linux/UNIX servers. Monitoring system performance and ensuring security. Performing routine system administration tasks and maintaining logs. Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and user assistance. Installing and optimising Linux-based applications. Managing system access, data integrity, and security protocols. Upgrading systems in line with business needs and coordinating downtime. Developing and maintaining system recovery procedures. Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation. Technical Skills: Linux Servers: RedHat (ALMA, CentOS, Ubuntu) High-Performance Computing (HPC): InfiniBand, GPU Workstations: SUSE, Ubuntu Scripting: Bash, Python Editors: PyCharm Licence Services: FLEXlm, RLM, DSLS Authentication: Linux AD Auth (SSSD) Backup Solutions: Veeam Virtualisation: VMware Hardware: Dell, HP Servers Storage Systems: Dell, EMC Windows Server experience (desirable but not essential) Desirable Skills and Experience Experience with IT service management frameworks and tools such as ITIL. Proficiency in scripting, automation tools, and server security. Strong understanding of security principles and network protocols. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex system issues. Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN). Experience in system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments. Ability to work effectively in a geographically distributed team.
