Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 midwife (minimum 2 years experience) to work within the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team. The role requires knowledge and understanding of the Public Health England national antenatal and newborn screening programmes. The position is part-time, requiring 34 hours of work. Working hours will be Monday to Saturday, with varied shifts between 8 am and 6 pm. We require candidates who are interested in all aspects of the antenatal and newborn screening programmes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the NUH trust Antenatal and newborn screening coordinators responsible for delivering the national antenatal and newborn screening programmes. Responsibilities include:
1. Involvement in audit, practice change, and development.
2. Support with national and local data collection, quarterly KPI, and annual data submissions.
3. Contributing to annual reports.
4. Education and training of registered and non-registered staff members.
5. Monitoring and actioning national screening programme failsafes.
6. Attending national and local meetings.
Person specification
Training and Qualifications
* Registered Midwife band 6.
* Suitable Teaching & Assessing Qualification.
* Possession of a Mentoring Course.
* Demonstrates continuous personal & professional development.
Experience
* Experience at Band 6 for a minimum of 3 years.
* Supervision & evidence of ability to mentor non-registered staff & midwifery/nursing students.
* Knowledge and understanding of PHE national requirements for Antenatal and newborn Screening Programmes.
* Experience working within a MDT.
* Evidence of conducting Audits.
* Evidence of service development.
Communication and relationship skills
* Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly with other professionals.
Analytical and judgement skills
* Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care.
* Evidence of data collection and analysis.
Physical skills
* Physically able to perform the full range of Midwifery duties.
Other requirements
* Up to date knowledge of topics pertinent to midwifery.
* Experience in reporting and investigating incidents.
