Job Summary: The Heavy Industry Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the heavy industry manufacturing facility. This role involves ensuring production efficiency, maintaining safety standards, managing staff, and coordinating with other departments to meet organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
* Oversee all aspects of the production process, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of resources.
* Ensure efficient and effective utilization of resources to meet production targets and quality standards.
* Monitor production metrics and KPIs, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
Safety and Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to reduce accidents and incidents.
* Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
Team Management:
* Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors, engineers, and operators.
* Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and set development goals for team members.
* Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Quality Control:
* Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
* Implement quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Address and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
Budget and Cost Control:
* Develop and manage the operations budget, including labor, materials, and equipment.
* Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
* Prepare and present financial and operational reports to senior management.
Process Improvement:
* Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
* Lead projects focused on lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
* Implement new technologies and best practices to enhance productivity.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Coordinate with other departments such as Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain.
* Ensure clear and effective communication across the organization.
* Represent the operations department in cross-functional meetings and projects.
Strategic Planning:
* Contribute to the development of long-term operational strategies.
* Analyze market trends, production data, and other factors to inform decision-making.
* Align operational activities with the company's strategic objectives.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
* Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industry operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
* Skills:
o Strong leadership and team management abilities.
o Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
o Proficiency in using ERP systems and production management software.
o Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Financial acumen and budget management experience.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including walking, standing, and climbing.
* Willingness to work extended hours and be on-call as needed.
Work Environment:
* This role is primarily based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility.
* Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures.
